Try this Better Than A Spa Facial Mask for skin that will be dewy and glow.
Several years ago my sister and I had some much-needed sister time. This doesn’t happen often so when it does we make it count. On this visit, she shared this recipe with me for a DIY facial mask. She told me that my face would be moisturized and glowing and feel “dewy”. She was so right!
This is a great facial mask for any skin type and after one use it will become your go-to at-home mask.
One reason I like this so much is that I usually have all the ingredients on hand and don’t need to go out and look for something that is hard to find or that I will never use again.
The other reason that I am OBSESSED with this facial mask is because of the way my skin feels after using it. It makes my skin baby butt soft! I’m not kidding!
The recipe is quick and easy to make and has great benefits for the skin. Let’s take a quick look at those benefits.
Yogurt contains probiotics that are good for your body inside and out. It also has a cooling effect on the skin which is great for areas that might need some extra TLC.
The next ingredient is raw honey. Raw honey contains natural antibacterial properties that help you have healthy skin. If you have any breakouts this is very helpful. Raw honey is also loaded with vitamins and minerals that benefit the skin.
The last ingredient is olive oil. You can also you avocado oil if you would prefer. This will help moisturize your face and leave it silky smooth.
I said this was for everyone and if you have oily skin and are worried about adding olive or avocado oil to your face, try a dry oil like sweet almond oil or jojoba. If you are going to buy oil for this, keep in mind that sweet almond oil has a short shelf life, about 6 months. This means that it goes rancid very quickly unlike most carrier oils. Jojoba has a much longer shelf life. Either will work great for oily skin.
Ingredients:
Equal portions of :
Plain or Vanilla Yogurt
Raw Honey
Avocado or Olive oil or oil of your choice
You only need enough in the total amount to cover your face. A teaspoon of each would probably work but would defiantly be thin. Honestly, I don’t measure anything, I just add what looks like equal portions. This doesn’t have to be perfect.
Mix all together and apply in a thin layer on your face. Avoid the eye area so that you don’t get the mixture in your eyes.
Keep on your face for 20 minutes and gently rinse off with warm water. I usually apply this before my showing in the morning and when it is time to take it off I rinse my face in the shower. Quick and easy.
Please note that when it comes to the yogurt, use what you have on hand. I usually have cups of greek yogurt in my fridge. I will just pull one out for breakfast and take out just enough for the mask. And yes, I have been known to have a blueberry stuck to my face while the mask is on. Use what you have.
I want to give my sister a big thank you for sharing her face mask recipe with me and for allowing me to share it with all of you. Melissa, we need more sister time!
